Events, Leagues & Tournaments Are Now One Seamless Flow

Big news for anyone who runs golf: Events, Leagues, and Tournaments in Buddies on the Green are now one connected system. No more spinning up a tournament in one place, chasing sign-ups in another, and copying scores into a third. You create once, players join once, and everything — registration, teams, live scoring, results, and season standings — flows automatically.

Here's what that actually looks like.

One Event Wizard, Every Format

It all starts with an event. Our 5-step Event Wizard walks you through the details — name, date, course, and format — and the moment you pick a tournament format, the app does the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

Choose from:

  • Scramble — Standard, Texas, or Florida variants
  • Best Ball — One, Two, or Three Best Balls, Cha-Cha-Cha, and Best Balls by Par
  • Shamble — Standard and Texas
  • Individual — Stroke Play or Stableford, with optional Skins and Closest to the Pin side games

Pick your course and the app pulls real course data — rating, slope, and tees — straight from the golf database, so handicaps are accurate from the very first tee shot.

The Tournament Builds Itself

The instant you publish a tournament event, the linked tournament is created automatically. You don't build it separately. Your event's cover image even becomes the tournament banner. From that point on, the event is your public-facing front door and the tournament is the engine running the game — two views of the same thing, always in sync.

Players Register Once — and They're In

Golfers discover your event on the Events page and register with a single tap. They can:

  • Sign up solo — and you pair them into balanced teams later, manually, randomly, or handicap-balanced with a snake draft.
  • Register a full team — captains add buddies or guests, and the team shows up in the tournament instantly.

The key word is automatically. Every registrant flows straight into the tournament's player list — no manual sync, no spreadsheet, no "wait, did you actually sign up?" The counts on the event page and the tournament always match. Players can even withdraw themselves, and everything stays in lockstep.

Share a link or QR code, and anyone who scans it lands exactly where they need to be to join.

Live Scoring, Real-Time Leaderboards, Instant Results

When the round starts, every group enters scores on their phones. Handicaps apply automatically. Leaderboards update in real time, so players, spectators, and other groups can follow the action hole by hole.

When the last putt drops, the results are ready — nobody's hunched over paper scorecards in the clubhouse. The event page shows a top-3 podium with medals, scores, and a link to the full leaderboard the second the tournament wraps.

Leagues Tie It All Together

Here's where the season-long magic happens. Your league can now host its own events — using the same wizard — that spawn tournaments your members sign up for. Everything stays inside the league:

  • Members-only sign-ups — only your roster can register.
  • Roster-aware team building — add players straight from your league.
  • Results on the league card — winners flow back automatically, broken out by flight for individual events, by team for Scramble / Best Ball / Shamble, and head-to-head for Ryder Cup.

One league, a full calendar of events, each spawning a real tournament, all feeding your season. That's the entire loop, connected.

Why It Matters

Running golf used to mean juggling tools. Build the tournament here, collect sign-ups there, text everyone their teams, tabulate scores by hand, then announce results an hour after everyone's gone home. We collapsed all of that into a single flow:

  1. Create an event.
  2. The tournament spawns itself.
  3. Players register and land right in the tournament.
  4. Scores go in live; the leaderboard updates in real time.
  5. Results post instantly — to the event page and your league.

Whether you're running a one-off charity scramble for 40 players or a 20-week league season, it's the same simple path from "let's play" to "you're in."

Try It on Your Next Event

Buddies on the Green connects events, leagues, and tournaments into one seamless experience — from registration to live scoring to final results. Head to the Events page, pick a tournament format, and watch the whole thing come together. Your buddies just have to show up and play.
