Is Buddies on the Green a free golf scoring app?
Yes. Keeping score is free — create a round, add your group (including guest players who don't have the app), and track gross and net scores hole-by-hole at no cost. A Premium subscription unlocks extras like detailed player statistics, the live Spectator View, and season-long leagues, but the core scorecard is free to start with no credit card required.
Can I keep score for my whole group in one place?
Yes. One person can act as the scorekeeper and enter scores for everyone in the group on a single shared scorecard — no need for each player to have their own phone out. Everyone you invite as a buddy can also see and follow the round, and guest players are scored right alongside registered users.
Does the app calculate side games and bets automatically?
Yes. Add any of 11 side games — Nassau, Skins, Wolf, Match Play, Banker, Snake, Nines, Sixes, Vegas, Bingo Bango Bongo, or Train — and the app does the math in real time as you enter scores. At the end of the round it shows exactly who owes what, so there's no arguing on the 18th green.
Do I need to download anything from the App Store?
No. Buddies on the Green is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that runs in your browser. You can add it to your phone's home screen for an app-like experience on iPhone and Android without going through the App Store or Google Play — just open the site and tap "Add to Home Screen."
Can I include players who don't have the app?
Yes. Guest Players let you add anyone to your scorecard without them creating an account. Enter their name and optional handicap and they're scored like any other player, including in side games and net competitions. You can later invite a guest to claim their round history.
Does it support gross and net scoring?
Yes. Every round supports both gross and USGA-compliant net scoring. The app calculates each player's course handicap and allocates strokes by hole difficulty, so mixed-ability groups can compete fairly. It works for 9-hole and 18-hole rounds, plus Stroke Play and Stableford formats.
Can I scan a paper scorecard instead of typing scores?
