Buddies Feed

Share your golf experiences, connect with fellow golfers, and stay up to date with the Buddies on the Green community.

Overview

The Buddies Feed is a social feed where golfers can share posts, photos, and round highlights, and interact with each other through comments, replies, and likes.

Key Features:

  • Create text and photo posts about your golf experiences
  • Share completed round highlights to the feed
  • Like and comment on posts from other golfers
  • Reply to comments, and like the ones you enjoy
  • Tag your posts with #hashtags
  • Share any post out to Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, SMS or email
  • Keep up with the latest articles from the Buddies on the Green blog
  • Connect with other golfers directly from the feed

Accessing the Feed

Navigation:

  • Mobile and Desktop: Open the menu (hamburger icon) and tap "Buddies Feed"
  • URL: /community

Access: You'll need to be signed in — signed-out visitors see a "Sign in to join the conversation" prompt instead of the feed. Once you're signed in, posting is open to every member. No subscription required.

Creating a Post

  1. Open the composer:
    • Desktop: tap the text area at the top of the feed ("Share your golf experience or ask a question...")
    • Mobile: tap the floating + button to open the post drawer
  2. Write your post
  3. Optionally add photos by tapping the image upload button
  4. Use #hashtags to categorize your post (e.g., #birdie, #bestround, #golftrip)
  5. Tap Post to publish

Tips:

  • You can attach up to 3 images to a post — anything you pick beyond that is left off
  • Hashtags are picked out and highlighted in your post text
  • Posts appear in the feed immediately for all community members

Sharing Round Highlights

After completing a round, you can share it to the feed as a post.

As the Round Owner:

  • A Share to Community modal automatically appears when you complete a round
  • Choose what to include: course name, date, score/achievements, playing partners, and a personal message

As a Player or Scorekeeper:

  • Tap "Post to Community" (or "Post" on mobile) from the round details page
  • Same customization options as the round owner

What's Included:

  • Course name and location
  • Date played
  • Score and automatic achievements (Broke 100!, Broke 90!, Birdies, Eagles, etc.)
  • Playing partners (optional, includes guest players)
  • Personal message
  • Your referral link, added to the end of the post so anyone who sees it can join you on Buddies on the Green

A shared round posts as regular text — there's no score card image. (Branded image cards are a separate feature, created only for rare scores like an Eagle, Albatross, or Hole-in-One.)

Common Questions

Q: Do I need Premium to post? A: No. Posting, commenting and liking are open to every member. You do need to be signed in, though — the feed isn't visible to signed-out visitors.

Q: Can I share a round I played with my buddies? A: Yes! After completing a round, use the Share to Community feature to post your highlights — course, date, score and achievements — as a text post.

Q: How do hashtags work? A: Add #hashtags to your post text to give it context. They're highlighted in the post, but they aren't tappable and there's no way to filter the feed by tag.

Q: Can I share a post outside the app? A: Yes. Every post has its own link, and the share option posts it to Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, SMS or email — or just copies the link.

Q: Can I delete someone else's comment on my post? A: No. Only the person who wrote a comment can delete it — being the post author doesn't give you control over other people's comments. App admins can remove a comment if something needs to come down.

Q: Is there a character limit for posts? A: Posts should be a reasonable length. The text area accepts extended content for sharing detailed experiences.
