BINGO BANGO BONGO
First, Closest, In
π―Objective
Score points for three events on every hole: first ball on the green (Bingo), closest to the pin once all balls are on (Bango), and first to hole out (Bongo). Pure event-based scoring β no strokes counted.
The Golden Rule
π 1 point per award Β· 3 points per hole Β· 54 points up for grabs over 18 holes.
πHow It Works
Bingo β First on the Green
The farthest-from-the-hole player always hits next, so βfirst onβ can be earned even after a poor tee shot. Get it on early and grab the point.
Bango β Closest to the Pin
Once everyone's on the green, the player whose ball is closest to the cup wins this point. Lag putting matters less than approach precision.
Bongo β First to Hole Out
Just like with putting order, the player farthest from the hole putts first. Drain it before anyone else and you collect Bongo.
βοΈHonor System & Etiquette
- β’ Always hit in proper order β farthest from the hole goes first.
- β’ Watch each shot. Disputed Bingos and Bangos can break the round's good vibe.
- β’ If an award can't be resolved (out of bounds, lost ball, no-one on the green), skip it for the hole.
- β’ The owner/scorekeeper records awards in the app after every hole β no scrap paper needed.
π§ Strategy Tips
Play to Position
A short layup that's on the green beats a heroic shot that comes up short. Bingo rewards getting on, not getting close.
Aim Center-Green
Bango goes to the closest ball β fat-or-thin pin hunts that miss can leave you short-sided and ten feet farther than a conservative center shot.
Bongo Rewards Long Putters
Being farthest out is actually a chance, not a curse. Cozy a long putt and force opponents to bend over for theirs.
No Score = Still in It
You can be 6-over and still lead Bingo Bango Bongo. The game rewards execution of each shot, not the scorecard total.
βοΈConfiguration
Point Value ($)
Dollar value for each point. With $1 per point and 54 points up for grabs, the maximum round swing tops out around $50 β friendly stakes for casual rounds.
No Bingo on Par 3s (optional)
On par 3s everyone tees onto the green, so the player teeing first has a structural advantage unrelated to skill. With this on, Bingo is skipped on every par 3 β the award modal hides the Bingo section automatically and only Bango + Bongo are in play.
Sweep Bonus (optional)
Reward a player who wins every award on a single hole (a βsweepβ). Choose one of three settings:
- β’ None β 3 points for the hole (standard)
- β’ Double β 6 points (3 base + 3 bonus)
- β’ +1 Bonus β 4 points (3 base + 1 bonus)
When βNo Bingo on Par 3sβ is also on, a par-3 sweep means winning both active categories (Bango + Bongo). The bonus still applies: Double pays 4, +1 pays 3.
πΊ Fun Fact
Bingo Bango Bongo has been a club-pro favorite for decades because it scales naturally across mixed-ability groups β there's no βA playerβ or βC playerβ when every shot has three independent chances to earn a point.
